A new era begins at ambitious Cheltenham Civil Service!thumbnail_rugbyu1

As Cheltenham Civil Service RFC draw a close on their season thoughts have been turning not to a summer off, but to expansion!

After a successful couple of seasons, in which the 1st XV have gained promotion and consolidated their league position and the 2nd XV have significantly improved, only narrowly missing out on promotion this year, Civil Service are already planning the next stage in their development. Recently the clubs new committee announced its ambitious plans to establish both a ladies section and a 4th XV men's team.

According to new Chairman, Alan Lochhead, "Civil Service has all the necessary ingredients for people to enjoy rugby. The facilities are great, the club's extremely welcoming and we have lots of members and a team for any ability. We feel that the only missing elements are a ladies section and a few more men to make the 4th XV viable every week."

Despite the plans only just being announced over twenty ladies have already signed up to the new ladies section, but coaches Paul Williams and Pete Lodge are keen to recruit more players, irrespective of their rugby experience or ability.

In order to achieve these two goals, and also due to the retirement of longstanding coach Pete Lodge, Civil Service are looking to recruit a new coach. By recruiting an appropriate coach the club hopes to further improve the quality of the coaching provided at the club, improve the league position of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams and also attract enough extra players to make the 4th XV a reality. Anyone that is interested in the coaching role at Cheltenham Civil Service RFC should contact Alan Lochhead (rugby@cacssa.co.uk).
