South East Region National Boat Angling Qualifier

Thursday 6 May 2010 - Ramgate

The trip went a head despite the poor weather. Wind was blowing force 4 - 5 occasionally 6 north eastly which didn't make it very pleasant at all and therefore meant we were fishing very close to the harbour entrance just off of Pegwell Bay. Many fish were caught by the eight anglers participating all be it that most of them were undersize. There were various species ranging from Dogfish, Bass, Silver eels, Cod, Whiting. Smoothound, Dabs and old faithful Poutings.

The event was won by Chick Thorpe totalling 17 points, second was Paul Foot 16 points and third was Brian Silk with 13 points. These three will now go on to fish the finals on Thursday 22 July at Beaumaris.

It was great to see Chick do so well at last. He has been fishing the event since 1998 when the event was first formed. What is even more satisfying to see that he never lets his personal injuries effect his hobbies and past time, well done Chick.
