Brighton Book Club UpdateBooks

The Brighton Area association has hit on a novel way to help its members with a specialised book club.

Co-ordinator, Andy Heater spotted the opportunity to support Brighton members following the sad passing of a former colleague.

He was asked to help with the disposal of her book collection and it was decided to have a book sale in her memory to raise money for St Barnabas Hospice in Worthing. Andy said, "When I advertised the event, we were inundated with donations of books and the sale raised over £330."

Seeing how popular books are with his colleagues, Andy decided to start a book club for them and invited members of the Brighton Area CSSC to join. Members supplied a list of authors and books they were interested in and the association then purchased eight new releases. The books are available for members to borrow over a two week period.

In addition to the club offering new books, some members are donating their own books to the club and they now have more than eighty titles in the library with plans to purchase up to three new books per month. After a period of time, the older books will be sold off and replaced with newer titles.
