The 2011 Scottish Skittle qualifier was dominated from start to finish by the Imps captained by Ronnie Patterson. Phoenix came through a tighter battle to clinch second place and as such Imps and Phoenix will make up the Scottish team at the National Finals which is being held at Cheltenham club in June. The event this year was sponsored by Coca Cola thanks for there prizes and contribution.
We welcomed a new team to the tournament this year (Dead Men Walking) making nine teams taking part. Right from the off imps set the early pace and were in a dominant position by the half time break , the fight for second place was much tighter with four teams all in with a shout.
After the break the Imps maintained there form and moved easily into 1st place. The fight for second place went to the last set of games Alba the defending champions who had struggled to find any form fell by the wayside leaving the Breakways or Phoenix to clinch second , and it was Pete McDonalds Phoenix who held their nerve to clinch second place.
I'm sure the rest of the teams all had a great day including our new team who unfortunately finished last, never mind maybe next year.
I would also like to thank Janette Barr for the homemade soup and hospitality service on the day and Evelyn Dobbie for making up sandwiches for 40 odd people.
