North West's Magnificent Seven

CSSC North West's 2007 Regional Conference attracted a good turn-out with representatives from Area Associations mingling with regional sports organisers, the Region's executive and colleagues from CSSC's Head Office.

Following a lovely meal on the Sunday evening, Mike Wilson rose from his chair to surprise a number of volunteer stalwarts with CSSC Certificate's of Recognition - the first awarded within the North West Region.

The awards were presented by Brian Glicksman, CSSC's National Honorary Treasurer and North West conference guest.

After describing the excellent contributions each recipient had made to CSSC, particularly in the development and smooth running of CSSC North West, awards were presented to:

Brenda Owen - Ladies Golf
Nick Hume - Athletics
Anne Wignall - Blackburn & Burnley AA
Alan Grafton - Darts
Dot Hawkins - Merseyside AA & Regional Executive

Thinking his pleasant task was over, Mike returned to his seat unaware that two more awards had been approved without his knowledge.

This time Regional Executive member Stan Wilde did the honours and outlined the very significant voluntary contributions of Pete James (Regional Secretary) and, finally, of a stunned Regional Chairman, Mike himself.

These two awards were greeted even more enthusiastically by the group and Pete and Mike both struggled to find words to describe their appreciation.
