| The North West Skittles competition was once again held at the Bickerton Poacher in Bulkeley. Four teams entered and a great fun time was had by all. Chester Devas started the games off and scored 45 points from in their first game. The Killers from Crewe then scored 27 who were then pipped by Bolton on 35 and the Crewe Clayheads finished the first round on 31. The second round saw the Devas score 32 taking their total to 76. The Killers added 32 to their total making 57 and Bolton made 37 making 72 and finally the Crewe Clayheads made 39 leaving them with 70 points. In the third and final round Chester Devas were only able to add 27 to their total leaving them with 103. Crewe Killers added 31 mainly due to the excellent bowling of Mark Fisher who ended up with a personal total of 34 for the night. Crewe Killers therefore finishing with 91 pts. Crewe's other team the Clayheads were steady again scoring 34 points leaving them with 104 for the night and just piping Chester Devas. The winners though were remarkably Bolton who scored 47 points in their last leg thanks to 9's from John Hogg, Terry Farrington and Janet Simm with Linda Mainon weighing in with 14. All in all a fun time was had by all - John Hogg Regional BDE presented the prizes to the Winning Bolton Team and the Runners Up from Crewe who now go through to represent the North West in the National Finals on May 16 at Cheltenham |
