Inspired by the London 2012 Olympics, the Workforce Workfit challenge, is aimed at
North East businesses in the private, public or voluntary sector who want to create more
opportunities for their staff to engage in physical activity through work.
The scheme has come about as the local NHS wants to provide an opportunity to create a lasting legacy leading up to and beyond 2012.
The judging panel was looking for an innovative idea for a physical activity project with an Olympic theme that will engage staff and get them motivated to get fitter through a workplace opportunity.
Fitter staff can have a very positive effect for employers. Physically active staff have been shown to take fewer sick days and being fitter helps us to manage the stress in our lives better. Doing activities together is also good for morale and shows that employers value their staff.
Our first event is a free indoor Sports Day on Saturday 22nd October 2011 at Walbottle Campus and Technology College, between 1-4pm
The event is free of charge to all Civil Service employees their children (over 10 yrs old) and partners and promises to be a great afternoon out!
