Midlands Shore Angling Regional Qualifer Results 2011

29/3/11 – Burnham on Sea, Somerset.

Despite the best efforts of the CSSC organisers, once again numbers for this event were reduced on the day. Part of this was probably due to the fact that the weather had turned from a previously warm few days to a cold northerly breeze and a continuous downpour.

As always, Burnham fished best on a rising tide which meant constant shifting of positions as the water pushed us all up the beach. However this also meant battling with ankle deep mud and some very discoloured water.

First off the mark was Dave Hutchings with a small Cod, followed by Dave Moyse landing a double shot of the same species. Lug worm proved most effective and the size of fish meant that small hooks worked better. Also, it seemed they were coming very close, with some fish being caught just 10 yds out in only a foot of water!

Roger Lovell worked hard to land a good number of fish and Mitch Johnson managed Cod, Whiting and Flounder. But it was Jim Worrell who made the best of the day scoring 48 points from 12 fish. This meant he tied on points with Dave Moyse who also scored 48 points, but with only 10 fish, Dave was happy to settle for 2nd place. 3rd Was Roger Lovell with 40 points.

Everyone is looking forward to another well organised final, this time in Suffolk on Thursday 6 October.
