I first joined CSSC in the early 1960s. I became a member of the Chesterfield Area Committee in 1974, then Area Secretary in 1978 where I remained until retiring from the post in 1999. After that, I was the Bar Committee Chairman until the Chesterfield Club closed in 2007.

I was the Chairman of the old East Midlands Region and held the post until the East and West Midlands Regions were merged in the 80s. I became Vice-Chairman of the new Midlands Region and then took over as Chairman.

I served on the Management Committee of CSSC from 1990 until 2005, being on the Estates Committee for the whole of that period. I currently serve on the Volunteer Committee. I am proud to have received a CSSC Merit Award in 2008.

I am a hockey umpire and member of the organising committee of the Blackpool Easter Hockey Festival, managing the umpires at that festival.

I have been a member of St. John Ambulance for 33 years and am now the Commissioner of Operations for Derbyshire.
