Turnout this year was slightly down from 2008. However, the quality of the tennis made up for the lack of quantity. The Men's Singles was a straight knockout draw this year. Tim Smith lost to Nigel Daniels in the final of the singles 6-2. He had had a very difficult semi final, which he managed to win on a tie break after an epic battle with one of his HASSRA colleagues, Tim Peplow.
In the Men's Doubles, the scratch pairing of Campbell Gilmore and Tim Smith won all four of their games in the round robin event and were crowned regional Doubles winners.
The weather was very kind to us compared to last year. The feedback from the competitors was that the all weather courts were a success and this is where next year's event will hopefully be held.
A big thank you to everyone who took part.
