Well Deserved Recognition

Dave Briggs Gets a Chairman’s Award

Dave has been a CSSC member since 1972 when he joined the Civil Service in Lincoln.

In those days he had a reputation as a sprinter and ran the 100 metres for the DSS in the Civil Service Championships in Edinburgh in 1978.

From 1979 to 1984 he ran the Lincoln CSSC football team in the Lincoln Sunday league as
secretary/player/manager. He was then transferred to Grimsby and joined the Grimsby Area committee in 1985 because, as he is quoted as saying, he wanted some money from them. What did he want money for? He wanted to form an Area football team. He got the money and the Civil Service Strollers football team was formed that year. Dave was player/manager of the team until 1990 when he stood down as manager but he continued to play until 2000.
