CSSC London Squash Team Triumph in Nottingham!
The CSSC Team Squash Competition took place on 26th/27th January at Nottingham Squash Club. CSSC London Region's Team included:
Tim Burrell (FSA)Tony Webb (Met Police)Louise Clark (DECC)Jamie Turner (DECC)Helen Midgely (CPS)
The team's first match was against Land Registry. They had no problem with a 5-0 victory. Each player winning 3-0 apart from Jamie finding it slightly tougher going with a 3-1 win.
Next up were HMRC in the semi finals. This proved to be a much tougher contest and a win looked like it may be in doubt as James lost 3-1 and Helen had to dig deep to come back from 1-0 down to win 3-1. Tim, Tony and Louise had hard fought matches but each won 3-0 to win the contest 4-1.
The opponents in the final were SPARTA who had conquered the favourites DSRA. The team were already 1 down with Louise not able to make the final due to a family commitment; this also meant Jamie and Helen had to move up the order. Jamie started well to go 2-0 up he was over come 3-2 in a very tight encounter. This meant the remaining players had to win. Helen had a very tough match but came through 3-0 and it was left to Tony and Tim to wrap up a 3-2 victory.
This was the first time that the London Region has won this prestigious tournament - well done to all!
