Venue: Dengie Sports Hall, Burnham-on Crouch
Date: Friday 29th February
Good luck to the winners of the mens and ladies doubles who will go forward to represent the region in February next year at the CSSC Open Badminton Championships.
| A record of 23 competitors actually contested the various events, which ranged from singles through to doubles in both mens and ladies with a mixed doubles championship. The mens losers in their first round singles matches respectively went through into a separate Plate event whilst the ladies singles, due to an entry of 5 was played as a 'round robin' event, whereby every competitor played each other. All in all a lot of Badminton was played with a record total of 48 matches contested on the day.
Special thanks go to: The Department Heads for allowing their members to compete. Joe Connolly, the CSSC Regional BDE and Pat Linstead from CSSC Head Office for supporting with the administration of the event. Mr Mark Kirby for his continued assistance in helping to run the event at Burnham. All the competitors for turning out and helping to make the event such a success. Please try to come again next year and if possible bring along another entrant! A special thank you to Ali Hushen who came forward during the event to take over the job of 'Regional Badminton Representative' from D. I Gilchrist upon retirement both from the Civil Service and the CSSC. The full results are at Annex A.
