Eastern and London Region Boat Angling Results 2010

Eastern - Wallasea 26 November 2010

Zero degrees, heavy frost and a clear sky. This is what greeted the anglers on arrival at Wallasea marina on the River Crouch (which is a tributary of the Thames).

Just sitting in the back of my car doing the boat draw nearly turned my hands into blocks of ice! This competition is twinned with London region and for the first time ever we had three boats booked. One person had to pull out at the last minute due to a family emergency otherwise it would have been very cosy on the Eastern region boats.

Wind was NW force 3-4 and with a swell out in the estuary was possibly going to limit the fishing area available. Cod had been starting to show but you really needed to be out in the deep water to find them, unfortunately the conditions kept all three boats within the Crouch estuary and as a result only whiting and dabs were recorded.

All too soon (not soon enough for some frozen bodies!) the boats were back at the marina and it was time to warm up with a nice hot meal at the Estuary Bar in the marina. The competition was fished as catch and release with different value points awarded per species.
