Results of Crown Green Bowls Mixed Pairs

The Crown Green Bowls Mixed Pairs event was held at Cleckheaton Sports Club on Thursday 12 August 2010.

The day started with the organiser, Christine Sutcliffe, providing bacon butties for all 17 pairs.

The competition was run in four groups - three groups of 4 and one of 5 with the groups of 4 playing 15 ends and the group of 5 playing 11 ends on a round robin basis so everyone had plenty of bowling.

The weather was kind for most of the day but just as the semi finals were about to start the heavens opened and the green got quite waterlogged in places. After a patient wait the rain stopped and the green drained enought to recommence play.

The results were:
Winners of group A - Elaine Bonsall and John Dewey
Winners of group B - Christine Sutcliffe and Steve Wilkinson
Winners of group C - Linda Hough and Steve Rimmer
Winners of Group D - Lisa Pessell and Mark Ireland.

Elaine Bonsall and John Dewey and Lisa Pessell and Mark Ireland were the two finalists. Lisa and Mark becoming the overall winners after playing consistently well all day.

Mervyn Stanley, Chairman of Yorkshire Region, presented the prizes at the end of the day.
