World Indoor Singles Achievement

Nicky Brett takes on the world!

Nicky Brett reached the semi final of the World Indoor Singles held at Potters Leisure Resort, Great Yarmouth last week.

Nicky, from Peterborough and from the City of Ely Indoor Bowls Club, had progressed through to the semi finals, defeating top international players from around the world along the way. Nicky's semi final was against rising star Stewart Anderson, who had earlier defeated 5 times World Champion Alex Marshall MBE. Nicky battled hard throughout the semi final but, unfortunately, went down to some sensational play from Anderson.

1st Rnd - N Brett 1 ½ - ½ S Airey (8-5, 7-7) England
2nd Rnd – N Brett 2 – 0 S Skleton (8-3, 7-6) England
3rd Rnd – N Brett 1 ½ - ½ J Breen (5-5, 8-3) Wales
¼ Final – N Brett 2 -1 D Gourlay (12-6, 5-6, 2-0) Scotland
Semi Final – N Brett 0 -2 S Anderson (2-8, 8-11) Scotland

Nicky is an active member of the CSSC Indoor Bowls Association representative team and will be playing for the CSSC IBA team in Belfast at the end of February. The team will be up against the Association of Irish Indoor Bowls (AIIB), which will be mainly the full Ireland International team. Nicky World ranked number 20 before the event and is now provisionally ranked 16 in the world.
