All Fields go to Shields

CSSC's National Table Tennis competition is a firm favourite within the 'Games' format and the 2007 competition was no exception.

Helen Shields of HMRC stole the headlines this time around with a clean sweep in the Women's Events.

She triumphed in the Open Singles Events, the Over 40's and Over 50's and, along with partner Julie Beaumont, claimed the top prize in the Women's doubles.

In the Men's Events, Bob Murray (MOD) reigned supreme in the singles thanks to victory over Phil Cawser (DWP), although Phil would have his own joy with wins in the Over 40's and 50's categories.

Finally, the Men's Doubles saw the HASSRA North West pairing of Ian McElwee and Jon Le Pledge overcome Rob Dodds and Steve Dickinson from Newcastle.

Table Tennis returns for the 2009 Games and new entrants will be warmly welcomed within what is arguably the friendliest of the competitions on campus.
