CSSC eSports 2011 National Super Street Fighter Champion

John Travis
CSSC London Area

John Travis attended his first CSSC eSports event in 2010 to grab the National SSFIV champion title and returned again to Manchester in 2011 to defend this. John’s skills at streetfighter are paramount to his seemingly endless victories within CSSC eSports as yet another dominating run and final game earned him a second consecutive title and more silverware.

Question 1
So as a defending National champion, how do you feel the tournament went?

I thought the tournament went well, with a really diverse mix of players this year. The standard was higher and the competition fiercer...but I had enough to win. It was all played out in good humour and spirit, which of course is the main thing.

Question 2
Did you favour one particular fighter for the whole contest? If so what was your reasoning behind your choice?

I used a variety of fighters this time, as I wanted to keep the opponent on their toes....

Question 3
The fight stick and controller were used in this event how do these compare when playing Street fighter?

This is down to personal taste. However, as a purist, I always favour the fightstick. There seemed to be a real split in the middle between stick and pad users which I didn't expect.

Question 4
What do you think about the future of street fighter and keeping it within CSSC eSports, isn’t there a new game due out soon?

Street Fighter is a staple of E Sports...people enjoy the thrills of fighters as they are quick matches and reward skill. Street Fighter is the #1 ranked fighting game in the World so has to feature....I will push for a replacement if/when that changes. Tekken X Street Fighter will be out next year, so will be considered I guess. There is also an update to Street fighter 4 due in December so it is still the market leader!
