Northern Multisport 2007

The 4th Family Fun Event took place at Haggerston Castle, Berwick on Tweed, on Saturday 29 September 2007 as part of a holiday weekend.

As well as 14 teams of adults, there were also 24 children taking part in their own activities. The weather hadn't been kind leading up to the weekend and, despite being sunny on the day, it was still very cold and so indoors we went.

That didn't affect the games though and everyone had a really fun filled day, especially newcomer Gary Kerr and his team.

"The event was so well organised and we'll definitely be back next time - then we'll win it," he confirmed.

Team working was high on the agenda with one event asking participants to construct the highest free standing building from toilet roll inners (painstakingly collected by HO staff), newspapers, balloons and sellotape. The winning team achieved a height of 288cm.

The Newcastle Allstars, winners in 2005 and 2006, only managed second this year. They were eclipsed by a brand new team, The Macaroons, from Sheffield, by a clear margin of 9 points.

The team of Dawn Macdonald, Debra Allott, Meg Guest, Natalie Rhodes, Kelly Walker and Shirley McClune were delighted to have won as can be seen in the picture.

They were presented with the trophy by David Wells, The Chairman of CSSC North East, once it had been retrieved from Mickey!
