Interview

Joel Senford attended his first CSSC eSports event in 2010 to grab the National FIFA champion title and returned again to Manchester in 2011 to defend this. Joel’s skills at FIFA are becoming legendary within CSSC eSports as yet another impressive run and final game earned him a second consecutive title and more silverware.

Question 1
How did you feel the Star system worked in this year’s tournament?

I thought the star system worked well. I think it makes the competition harder because a lot of players playing at home and online will opt for five star teams the majority of the time, so having to start the early rounds with the 3.5 and 4 star teams can be quite difficult. With this in mind it makes for a more exciting competition.

Question 2
What was the competition like this time around, there seemed to be a few close games?

I found this years opposition twice as hard as last years. Both the quarter and semi finals were the hardest games I have had to play in all cssc competitions having to come back after going a goal behind in both games. And I also had the added pressure of being the defending champion, felt like all the focus was on me to lose.

Question 3
What team did you use in the final; did it give you the edge?

I used Barcelona in the final simply for the fact that they work well with my style of play. I like to call it “pass and move football”. The players have a high work rate, agile and are all quite quick. I would say using them gave me the edge being one of the better teams on the game paired with the fact that they are the team I use most day to day.

Question 4
As defending champion again are you looking forward to next year and FIFA 13?

I always look forward to these events and next year will be no different. With how much of a change FIFA 12 is to FIFA 11, I can’t wait to see what changes EA are going to make for FIFA 13. Just hoping to be champion again this time next year.
