More Opportunities For Golfers to Make the Nationals!
Take a look at the new qualification structure for men's golf. CSSC is delighted to announce that the qualification arrangements for the 2010 Golfing Festival have been improved. Over recent years, many regions have been combining their Handicap and Scratch qualifying competitions. This led to a need to clarify the numbers entitled to qualify for the Golf Festival in the respective Handicap and Scratch competitions. Rather than merely articulate the 'status quo', the CS Golf Society and their regional organisers identified a much clearer and more positive overall approach. Unlike previously, all of the places on offer at the National Golf Festival in 2010 will be fully funded by CSSC. Importantly, the ratios shown below mean that the more members who take part regionally, the more guaranteed and fully funded places available at the 'Nationals'. This should improve the regional event(s) and provides considerable scope to grow the Golf Festival, making this a more significant and enjoyable competition. Where a regional qualifier has been combined (staging both the Scratch and the Handicap event on the same day), the entry ratio for the scratch will be set at 10 Handicap or under. Participants can and may play in both competitions but can only qualify for one final. It is the total number playing across the whole event that determines entry levels to the national finals based on the criteria defined below. Handicap Ratios – the number of participants required to generate fully funded places at the National Final for the Handicap Golf Championship Scratch Ratios – the number of participants with a 10 Handicap or lower required to generate fully funded places at the National Final for the Scratch Handicap Championship As you will see, the ratios differ from between the Scratch and Handicap qualifiers. This recognises that there is a smaller population of Scratch golfers amongst the CSSC membership than Handicap. The change will give more members than ever the chance to attend our National Finals on a fully funded basis.
