CSSC Games 2007, TouchRugby Review

The 2007 CSSC Games saw the introduction of TouchRugby to the great menu of other sports on show at the Loughborough event.

In total, 16 teams took part on what was a brilliant sunny day in April.

A number of the competitors had never played TouchRugby before, so time was initially spent ensuring teams were aware of the general rules of play.

The 16 teams were split into four groups and played on a Round Robin basis. Winners and Runners Up within each group were placed either into the Cup or Plate competition.

In the semi-finals of the Cup, the Home Office side were victorious over HMRC2 and HASSRA Wales beat DVLA.

This led to a Home Office and HASSRA Wales final, which HASSRA Wales convincingly won by 6 points to 3.

The semi-finals for the Plate were contested by Registers of Scotland and HMRC1 and NESLC2 and DEFRA.

This resulted in a final between Registers of Scotland and DEFRA with our colleagues from north of the border winning by the narrowest of margins, 2 points to 1.

For the final standings, see the link to the right of this page.

Watch out for details of the next CSSC TouchRugby Competition - likely to be staged in the autumn of 2008.

New teams are always welcome; whether it's a group of members from work or from your Region or Area Association, take the opportunity to get involved as it's a great event and well worth the experience.
