CSBA International Championships And Tournament
| The 2008 CSBA International Championships and Tournament were held at Gosforth Bowls Club Newcastle between the 29 June and 4 July. Whilst the Championships were based at the Gosforth club the Summerhill Bowling Club provided excellent facilities for the Limited Pairs and Plate competitions. Our hosts for the week were the CSSC Tyne, Wear and Northumberland Area. Whilst the formal business of the AGM was underway on the Sunday those lucky enough not to have to attend enjoyed a trip to Alnwick Gardens including afternoon tea. At the Blue Flame Social club, in the evening, Peter Lawson the Chair of the Tyne Wear and Northumberland Area welcomed over 100 players and friends to Newcastle and wished them well for the coming week. We are grateful to the Area for hosting an excellent buffet. Monday morning saw the champions of each country arrive onto the green to some stirring music and accompanied by their respective Presidents. CSBA President Gordon Brown invited Councillor David Wood, Lord Mayor of Newcastle to meet the champions formally open the proceedings and to bowl the first woods.
