| Venue: Barlows Lakes - Old & New Date: Saturday 29th September Of the 24 anglers booked into this event unfortunately only 22 attended, this then left two sections of seven and one section of eight on the New Lake. The results from the previous week indicated that the Old Lake was the place to be, as it had fished consistently all round whereas the New Lake was extremely patchy. However, as we all know, the fish do not read the script and a complete reverse of predictions was the outcome. Roger Sargeant won the event, with mainly Roach and Skimmers plus a 5lb Tench boosting his weight to 18lb 9oz. Second placed Dave Butler left it until the last 2 hours to catch a host of Chub averaging 12oz for a total of 16lb 9oz. Third place went to Carl Flloyd who again left it until the eleventh hour landing a near 15lb Carp with less than 15 minutes to give him 16lb 2oz. Fred Gill included Tench and Carp in an otherwise sparse net of Roach to total 15lb 15oz. for fourth place. Congratulations go to the qualifiers who will represent the Southern Region in next years final at Oldington on the Staffs/Worcester canal, which will be held on 18 September 2008. |
