This is the third newsletter from the Bournemouth CSSC Area Association. Since our last newsletter, we have been able to run a coach trip to London and a trip up the river from Poole to Wareham, but we are not stopping there.
This newsletter will give you details of how to book places on the remaining events we have to run over the summer as well as some advanced information about what we foresee happening in the winter with the Association.
First an important correction. Please note that the date for the trip to Salisbury races is Sunday 13 June not Sunday 27 June. The times remain as before. The coach will be picking up from Poole Lighthouse, Bournemouth Interchange and Ringwood Meeting House Lane. We will leave Poole at 12:30 to arrive in Salisbury in time for the first race. The cost of the trip includes entry into the race course and will be £7.50 for members, and £10 for non members. Under 16s will be able to go free. When booking places please let us know your name, membership number, contact number, names of guests and where you would like to join the coach.
In July we will be running 2 trips. On Sunday 18 July, we will be running a coach trip to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucester. This is one of the largest air shows in the world and amongst it’s themes will be celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. This will give you the opportunity to see at present 7 Spitfires, 4 Hurricanes and the Lancaster all flying together. Entry to the show itself costs £37.50, however we are pleased to be able to offer this at the superb price of £25 for members and £30 for non members. This price includes both entry to the show and return coach travel. What’s more, Under 16s will travel completely free. Other aircraft scheduled to appear in the flying display include display teams The Red Arrows, Patrouille France, Patrouille Suisse as well as the mighty B52 Stratofortress and a rare display from Americas most advanced fighter the F-22 Raptor. Also scheduled is the first display in the UK from the brand new Airbus A400 Airlifter. It is expected that aircraft will come from all over the world to take part, with visitors confirmed from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Romania, Oman and America to name just a few.

The coach will leave Poole Lighthouse at 8am picking up at Bournemouth Interchange at 8:20 leaving Fairford at approximately 5pm.

On Thursday 22 July, we will be taking a boat to see the Sandbanks fireworks display. The boat will be ready for boarding at 7:15pm with a 7:30 departure, and will return to Poole at approximately 10:30pm after the display. There will be entertainment provided on board the boat. The trip will cost CSSC members £7.50 and non members £9.00. When booking places please let us know your: name, membership number, contact number, and the names of guests if applicable.
On Saturday 21 August we will be chartering a boat for the Bournemouth Airshow to leave Poole in the morning, positioning in the bay for the best views of the display, then returning to Poole in the evening. There will also be a complimentary BBQ on board. We are still awaiting confirmation of sailing times from the boat operator which will be confirmed when we get them, but we will start to accept bookings now. It will cost £15 for members, £20 for non members and £10 for under 16s.
Please remember that this includes a full days cruise as well as the BBQ. When booking places please let us know your: name, membership number, contact number, and the names of guests if applicable.
Would you like a chance to go to Barbados? The South West Regional qualifiers for the Barbados challenge takes place in Exeter on September 11th. Events include 5-a-side football, darts, cribbage, pool, volleyball, dominoes and there is also a general knowledge quiz qualifying event as well. Full details can be found at the CSSC website under the South West Region section. If there are any members that would like to take part in any of the events, please contact us – it may be that you already have a team or would like to take part but don’t have sufficient numbers to make a team. We would like to help, and if there is sufficient interest we will run a coach for members to the event in September.
We are also in the process of organising a boat trip and walk around Brownsea Island, with a provisional date of Sunday 19 September. We will publish further details of dates, times and prices in the near future.
We will also be running a coach to the Bath Christmas markets on Saturday 4 December. Again times and prices will be confirmed in the near future.

If you have an idea for anything that we could offer to CSSC members in Bournemouth please get in touch with us, we would very much like to hear from as many members as possible. If there is something that you would like to see run that has not happened yet, let us know, it may be that we just have not thought of it or do not know how to go about it.
We would still like to hear from any members interested in Surfing lessons – especially as the weather has been so nice - as well as those interested in a day walking, or a day sea fishing. We would like to organise events around these activities should there be sufficient numbers interested to do so. Again, please get in touch if you are interested.
