This year, 70,000 London 2012 Games Makers will be needed to ensure that the Olympics and Paralympics run smoothly and successfully.
From collecting tickets, issuing uniforms, collating results, line judging, scoring or any of the other volunteer roles for London 2012, CSSC members are set to make up a good portion of the overall total.
Being a Games Maker is no small commitment and CSSC wants to help members by at least contributing to some of the financial burdens of being involved.
Whatever Games Maker role you've been selected for or are hoping to be selected for, CSSC will provide the following financial support: -
1. Games Maker Selection Events
100% of reasonable travel costs within the UK based on existing CSSC travel rules#
2. Games Maker Training & Official London 2012 Test Events
50% of reasonable travel costs within the UK based on existing CSSC rules#
50% of any required first night accommodation not already funded by the organisers up to a maximum of £43.20
3. London 2012 Olympics / Paralympics
50% of travel to attend your Games Maker duties before, during or after the Olympics and/or Paralympics (either as one off if travelling from afar or daily if commuting)#
CSSC will also fund each Games Maker £20 per night up to a maximum of £200 to assist with accommodation costs whilst volunteering at the Olympics and or Paralympics. Funding will only be provided for commercial accommodation and will be subject to the production of receipts
4. Official London 2012 Uniform Collection (if separate from any of the above)
50% of reasonable travel costs within the UK based on existing CSSC rules#
All claims should be made within 28 days of the event in question on an official CSSC Games Maker Claim Form and be accompanied by relevant receipts and the LOCOG confirmation to attend an event for which you are claiming. Forms should be submitted to:

# If you have use of a season ticket connected with normal travel to work (or for any other purpose), expenses for those portions of the journey covered by the ticket will not be paid. In addition, it is anticipated that London 2012 organisers will provide Games Makers with public transport travelcards for some of the above events and activities. Expenses will not be paid for any journey or portion of a journey covered by such travelcards.
Finally, claims will only be regarded as valid if the Games Maker or prospective Games Maker is a continuous member of CSSC Sports & Leisure on the day of the event(s) at the point of claim, and on or prior to 1 April 2012.
Even if you don't feel the need to claim for financial assistance, please keep in touch and let us know if you're selected as a Games Maker, if you become involved in London 2012 Test Events or as your training progresses. We'd be really interested to hear from you.
