Be a Games Maker: Olympic Games Volunteering
The London Organising Committee of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOGOC) is running a nationwide campaign to recruit up to 70,000 'Games Maker' volunteers from the public to help run the games being held in London and other locations in July and August 2012.
There will be a wide range of roles available such as stewarding, escorting athletes to behind-the-scenes jobs at the Olympics Village or with sustainability aspects, with training given.
If you are interested in becoming a games maker, you may be able to apply under the terms of the MoJ special leave policy.
MoJ supports staff to volunteer in the community, both for the benefits this can bring back to MoJ as regards the individual's understanding of this type of community engagement and as a way to help staff boost particular skills as part of their personal development plan.
Under MoJ special leave terms, staff may apply for up to 5 days paid leave. The remaining days can be made up from unpaid special leave, flexi leave or annual leave, or taken in staff's own time (weekends).
Please note: line managers will have discretion to permit special leave depending on business needs.
