TRIANGULAR TUG-OF-WAR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

The Triangular Tug of War Championships 2009 was hosted by CSSC at Stanley Park Sports Stadium, Blackpool. This year's event took place on Thursday 16 July.

Entries/weight classes

Teams taking part:
Combined Services A and B
British Police
Civil Services

The following are the weight classes and results in order of pulling:

a. 640 kilo – 1st place – Combined Services A – 2nd Combined Services B – 3rd CS B
b. 680 kilo – 1st place – Police - 2nd place Combined Services A – 3rd place CS B
c. 600 kilo – 1st place – Combined Services A – 2nd place Police – 3rd place CS B
d. Catch – 1st place – Police – runners up Combined Services A – 3rd CSSC

The standard of pulling was very high again this year and Combined Services and the Police dominated the competition. The Civil Service team put up a gallant fight, especially in the first pull of the 640, which went to 3 ends against the Police and the catch weight where they narrowly missed out on a runners' up medal. The toughest pull of the day was in the 600 between Combined Services A and the Civil Service.

Our thanks to all the teams that took part and all those involved in ensuring that it was a successful and challenging competition.

Next year's event will be hosted by the Police. The date and venue will be announced nearer the time in 2010.
