| The sun shone from the outset and temperatures soared during the third CSSC Games which took place on 19 and 20 April 2007 at the excellent Loughborough University Campus. The CSSC Games never fails to draw hundreds of participants from all areas of our membership and 2007 really was no exception. In total around 1450 CSSC members of all ages and abilities took part from all over the country. Members represented their Region, their Area, their Department or just themselves in the 14 events, which included old favourites such as Football, Netball, Squash, Rounders, Badminton, Rugby and Hockey attracting their usual high entry. Fencing and Table Tennis also proved popular and for the first time the Games included the CSSC 10km Campus Challenge, Mixed Golf, Indoor Bowls and Mixed Touch Rugby. Around 150 CSSC volunteers took responsibility for a variety of roles at the event including Minibus driving, sports organisation, first aid, car parking, marshalling and registration which was very much orchestrated with the help of Volunteer Team Leaders, The Games Planning Committee and CSSC Event Team. On Thursday night, the spirit of 'Bond' came to life - in honour of 2007. The theme of the evening entertainment on Thursday saw the donning of the compulsory tux by many, and not far from sight, of course, the James Bond Girls. Were you a Honey, Kissy, Pussy or a Plenty? A selection of recognisable Shirley Bassey hits also blared in the background, supplied by tribute act Surely Bassey. A disco followed with many dancing into the wee hours of the morning. Thank you to everyone who played their part in making the 2007 CSSC Games such a huge success. Believe it or not the preparations have already begun for the 2009 event. Click here to find out more. |
