| Wow! Once again, The CSSC Games has been a tremendous success. With 14 exciting sporting categories attracting over 1200 competitors, including several enticing new additions, an excellent location and top notch entertainment, there was fun to be had by all. CSSC is delighted with this winning result and thanks all competitors and volunteers for taking part in this event - a highlight of the year! Very popular in both 2005 and 2007, Loughborough University was again chosen as the location for this sporting event. With activities and accommodation all in one place, Loughborough continues to be the ideal setting for The Games, which is as much a social as a competitive occasion. Always keen to keep things fresh and moving forward, several new events were added to 2009’s exhilarating programme. Archery, kwik cricket and chess were keenly welcomed and CSSC was thrilled to see that masters’ football, also a new addition, was oversubscribed! Wow, what a result! As with previous years, competitors of all abilities and experience threw themselves into the competitions with great enthusiasm. Over 200 took part in the netball tournaments and table tennis received a record number of entries! Results, photo galleries and winners’ stories will soon be available to view on the website. The fun did not stop with the sport, however. As the sun went down, the cowboy hats and checked shirts came out - along with some interesting moves on the dance floor! Country and Western was the theme of the night and, with line dancing instruction, volunteers and competitors strutted their stuff, accompanied by a country and western band. Even a Bucking Bronco reared its head for the occasion! As ever, everyone was in high spirits for the themed evening entertainment and the merriment continued into the small hours. All in all, The Games was, undoubtedly, a huge success. Credit must go to our remarkable volunteers who continue to astound us with their dedication and hard work. An enormous thank you goes out to them as, without them, such events would not be possible. A big cheer for the CSSC Games 2009! Please click here to return to the Games page.
