Civil Service Philatelic Society Diamond Jubilee Events
The Civil Service Philatelic Society reached its Diamond Jubilee this year and this milestone was marked by a number of events. Special displays at the February and March meetings featured Poland 1914 to 1945, Northeastern Airways and 1971 Postal Strike Mail, GB Postage Due Stamps, GB and Empire Jubilee Issues 1887 to 1935, The History of Telecommunications, The Postal History of Tunbridge, Memories of Scotland, Berlin and 1948, Duck Stamps, 1911 Coronation Durbar in Delhi and Disappointments. In April, part of the meeting was devoted to Columbian Exposition envelopes with a wide variety of postmarks. The AGM in June was followed by a Summer Grand Auction.
A special Jubilee edition of the Bulletin was produced in June, including four coloured pages for the first time. The photograph shows the Treasurer and Membership Secretary Ian Briant at the conclusion of his display, The History of Telecommunications.
Membership is open to all serving and pensioned Civil Servants from departments and agencies, employees of British Telecom and Royal Mail. Further details can be found on the Society website http://www.mynetservices.co.uk/csps/ or from the Membership Secretary, Ian Briant greendwarf@btinternet.com
